1901
Howell H. Campbell Sr. starts Anchor Candy Company on Market Street in Nashville, TN, and later moves to First Avenue and Clark Street. Campbell, then 19-years-old, begins his business with two copper kettles and a dozen employees. Deliveries are made by wagon and shipped in wooden barrels and pails by railroad.

1903
Campbell re-organizes Anchor Candy, incorporating the business as Standard Candy Company.

1912
Goo Goo Clusters are introduced.

1914
The First Avenue and Clark Street location burns down, and Standard Candy Company moves to 443 Second Avenue North, Nashville, TN.

1946
Howell H. Campbell Jr. takes over management of the business from his father.

1974
In June, James Fischer and Jimmy Miller purchase Standard Candy Company. They redirect the business to more distribution through wholesalers. The Grand Ole Opry continues to advertise Goo Goo clusters each night. Goo Goos are distributed to thirty states.

1979
Standard Candy Company moves to a modern manufacturing plant at 715 Massman Drive, Nashville, TN.

1982
Jimmy Spradley purchases Jimmy Miller’s portion of the company. Goo Goo Supreme is introduced with pecans instead of peanuts. Goo Goos are marketed across America.

1995
The Spradley family along with the employees of Standard Candy — through an employee stock ownership plan — acquire all of the stock in the company. In addition to Goo Goos and King Leo Soft Peppermint Stick Candy, Standard Candy is a leading producer of private label confectionary products. The company exports products to Canada, Mexico, Europe, and Asia. Each year the company produces tens of millions of world famous Goo Goo Clusters in Nashville, TN.

1999
Standard Candy Company establishes Standard Functional Foods Group, Inc. as the contract manufacturing arm of its business.

2010
Standard Functional Foods Group is one of the leading contract manufacturers of nutritional snack bars in the nation.
